AstroLands Summer Interns 2021 Blog 3
Hi all, it’s Lauren and Gráinne here again!
This week we’ve been finishing up our activities so we can get the first packs ready for the campers! It has been a lot of designing and testing what works and what doesn’t with this new virtual format that everyone has had to get used to this year (and last year!).
The first packs have already been assembled for the Astro Campers and we can’t wait to send them out! The Astro Campers will get a glimpse of the cool activities we’ve put together for them and hopefully they will be as excited as we are for the camps this summer!
Gráinne has also gotten up to some really amazing work this week, translating videos on I-LOFAR’s YouTube channel into Irish for teacher resources! This will really help with making the activities accessible to Gaelscoils around the country, as well as Irish speaking people who want to enjoy them! We’re all picking up new Irish vocabulary now such as an grianchóras (the solar system) and dúil (elements).
We’ve been looking more closely into our plans for each camp, but particularly the AstroLands Academy (for ages 16-18). We’ve tried out some advanced exercises to try and decide which activities would give our Campers the best impression of what it’s like to study or work in the space industry. We’re previewing all the virtual tours we have lined up as well. Stay tuned to find out where you’ll be exploring through your computer screen!
As always, you can see more of what we’ve been up to on social media. Follow us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
