I-LOFAR CPD resources
The I-LOFAR consortium understands the importance of giving teachers support and resources that reflect the changing expectations of STEM education, which aims to give students the knowledge and tools for success. This page contains continuous professional development resources (CPDs) developed by the AstroLands team at I-LOFAR. These are primarily aimed at Junior Cycle science teachers (for students aged 11 – 15) and are free to download.
As of the introduction of the new Earth and Space section to the Junior Cycle science syllabus (2018) and the emphasis on the Nature of Science we hope that these tried and tested resources can be of use in the classroom. They include activities and learning opportunities covering a wide range of topics in Space Science and help develop practical skills that are necessary for science students. There are sections which also focus on Astronomy in an Irish context, as we, in tandem with teachers, hope to inspire future astrophysicists and inform them of the plethora of research and activity happening in Ireland.
