Hello!

How time has flown. It’s now week 12 and our internship comes to an end today. The pandemic meant that we had to find new ways to work and provide educational content to the public, but that didn’t stop us. Here is a video recap of what we got up to at Astrolands over the summer:

We have a new youtube channel, in which we have added our third video, all about trying to visualise the distances in our solar system between planets. It includes an activity as well as a visualisation of the planetary orbits on a scale of Dublin. Make sure to check it out here:

For the duration of the internship I have been developing a monitoring website with the help of a PhD student, Alberto, and after much head scratching I am happy to say that it’s finally functional and live. Check it out here. This website will allow researchers to see real time data being collected by the telescope but also to view data from previous dates.

Amy has also worked very closely with Áine to produce amazing CPD resources for teachers so make sure to check them out here!

And this brings us to an end to our blogs and internship. It’s been a great experience for both myself and Amy and we have loved every second of it. We hope to have produced resources and held camps which will help with the spread of scientific literacy and inspire future generations!

Yours truly,

Nathan and Amy
