I-LOFAR CPD Sessions
The I-LOFAR Education Team, supported by Science Foundation Ireland and ESERO Ireland, are delighted to run Online CPD days for Junior Cycle Science teachers, delivering interactive workshops and teaching resources to assist teachers in achieving the learning outcomes of the Earth and Space strand in the Junior Cycle Science curriculum.
In this free 2 hour workshop participants will explore the evolution of technologies for astronomy and space research, what this means for the future of space science and space exploration, as well as delve into the motions of planets, stars and celestial bodies and explore our place in the Solar System and our planetary neighbours.
Over the course of the session the activities and workshops will target the following Learning Outcomes in the Junior Cycle Science Curriculum;
- Earth and Space
- E&S1, E&S2, E&S3 Building Blocks
- E&S4 Systems and Interactions
- Physical World
- PW3, PW4 Systems and Interactions
- Nature of Science
- NOS1 Understanding about Science
- NOS2, NOS5 Investigating Science
- NOS7 Communicating in Science
These will take place online via Zoom with participant packs posted out ahead of the session. Numbers are limited to allow for an interactive format with discussion and questions.
