We are currently applying for funding that will allow us to develop fun activities, experiments and workshops for students between the ages of 10 and 15.
For Kids
We hope to make a new exhibition all about the Ireland’s role in astronomy, focusing on our involvement with LOFAR. This will travel the country and stop in different towns bringing with it workshops and fun activities.
Student Workshops
Education Centre
We have just received support from the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs to build an Astronomy Education Centre in the grounds of Birr Castle. It will be equipped with a 3D video globe, a large video wall, numerous interactive flat screen displays, and a LOFAR radio telescope network activity wall.
Check out some of our previous events below for a taste of what to expect in the not so distant future!
The Space Expo
The Space Expo (www.spaceexpo.ie) attracted over 30,000 visitors of all ages to Trinity College Dublin to learn about the amazing impact studying space has on our lives in Europe today. The interactive dome was the home for three action-packed workshops for kids everyday, including SkySketchers, Sun@One and a Make your own Comet workshop.
